In this film, we captured the excruciating wait of a VW driver, stopped at a red light on a late night, in an empty street. An absurd situation made all the more frustrating by the car she drives: a Jetta GLI, the 228 horsepower version of VW’s popular sedan. The fact that there’s no reason for her to be stopped, no traffic, no pedestrians, sets the base for her total frustration and a visual echo of her entrapment: As the red light holds for nothing, it feels like eternity... like HAL in 2001, taunting her, and bathing her in red.
